🥰Latest updates from the @Polkadot Technical Fellowship dev call!
1⃣Polkadot Asset Hub migration — scheduled for Nov 4 (8–9 AM UTC). Data transfer expected to take 4.5–7.5 h, with ~1 h warm-up and cool-down windows. A public migration dashboard will be available, following the Kusama process.
2⃣ Kusama recap: migration went smoothly, a minor staking issue (self-stake not fully counted for a few validators) was found and will be treasury-compensated after fix deployment.
3⃣ Inflation & supply cap: Hard Pressure code is nearly ready. Implements dynamic burn tracking; rollout expected by March (possibly sooner).
4⃣Elastic Scaling: RFC-103 flag removed; multi-core fork observation fixed (backported to 25.09 stable).
Kusama testnet shows ~99% block finality confidence in 12 h, aiming for 100%.
Block latency improved — proposer pre-connects one slot earlier, avg delay ~16 ms (notably faster with 3 cores).
5⃣ Asset Hub upgrade: adds non-teleportable asset registration, defaulting to off-teleport mode.
This benefits Hydration’s Hollar stablecoin (single-reserve operation).
Release planned alongside upcoming smart-contract support.
6⃣ Snowbridge: XCM v5 live, B2 contract upgraded & bi-directional tests passed.
Six failed transfers (~$100 K) during v1.7 mismatch have been replayed via referendum, and upgrade flow improved with dry-runs and staged rollout.
7⃣ SDK & Pallets: migration from Currency to Fungible traits; Kusama AH enabling weight reclaim; community contributions on binary-Trie storage; Zombienet now supports genesis auto-connect, cutting CI time significantly.
8⃣ JAM progress: ~20 teams fuzz-testing v0.7.0 → moving to v0.7.1.
W3F overseeing first-phase testing while core teams design new systems for validating JAM block production & network behavior.
9⃣ Governance UX: RFC-150 allows partial override of delegated votes (you can still vote directly without undelegating). Code done, waiting for migration scripts.
🔟 Crypto / bridging: BLS activation planned on Westend for bridge tests; ZK verifier & BLS + APK test bridge funded and progressing.
