Our gem of the week is illustrator and artist without boundaries, @glitchesst. Minting their first work on Tezos in January of 2023, Glitchesst has over 200 art releases on Objkt. Each composition is a uniquely balanced work of dark art, glitch, and satire. Let’s take a look at some of their art together and join us for Artz Friday for our Community call.
“An Apparition” - A lighthearted depiction of capturing an apparition on camera.
In “Don’t Cry My Love” we experience a perfect balance of darkness and romance as a skeleton-man and a woman embrace. The simplicity of the glitch elements act as the tear falling from the girl's face, surrounding the frame with her emotions. The lack of characteristic of the skeleton man and the lack of conversation, replaced with the ability to show his love through action. The embrace itself says enough.
The most recent drop on Tezos really captured my attention. “Alterego” is a composition that takes yin and yang to unique symbolic depths. A figure in the center of a backdrop split in half. One side depicts darkness/evil, and the other: light, life, and heart. The all seeing eye is perfectly centered, able to see both sides of the spectrum. This artwork is still available on primary!
